alright. i'm here.

the past couple weeks i've been getting a lot of 'are you soooo excited?'s. and my response was always a hesitant 'yeah', cause really i couldn't fathom the whole experience. i mean leaving pei, everyone i know, and heading out to meet up with a group of roughly 130 people i've never met before, travelling with them for five months living in the houses of complete strangers. its not that i wasn't excited - in theory i was, as i knew i was going to have an amazing time. but it just hadn't sunk in yet.

it sunk in.

not this morning when i arised out of bed at 3am after just four hours sleep. not in the charlottetown airport when i bid farewell to mom and dad. not in toronto when i nearly missed my connecting flight to denver. but when i approached this group in the denver airport, burdened with the heavy load of luggage, carry on, purse and guitar (i really packed too much).

these were the faces i was going to be seeing every day for the next five months. these people are going to become some of my best friends. i'm going to share so many experiences with these people. i now have friends from around the world. the first person that introduced herself was a japanese girl, who's name i'm not even going to attempt right now but it starts with a S and i'll be able to tell you later this week. then came benjamina from sweden, hanna from the phillipeans, jalee from hawaii, raphael from brazil, rusmus (or something along that line) from denmark, and vanessa from new jersey. now there were more then that but those are the ones i can recited from that first group, and let me tell you, after a day of meeting 100something people from around the world, i think that's pretty damn good.

so we hung around the airport for awhile, picked up some more new friends (jerimiah from . . . michigan? and grant form . . . holy i have no idea, sorry grant). we went on a journey to find coffee - with no luck. after waiting around for a good two hours we scrounged up enough people to take the shuttle to the center where we would all meet. and off we went.

so we got to this center and did the usual administration stuff - get name tags, turn in unfinished forms, pay off the rest of your outstanding bill. blah blah kinda stuff. however i did get a little bit of info on the family i'll be living with for the next four weeks. matt and cindy stonesmith (or smithstone i don't remember) and their daughters who are 12 and 9. haven't met them yet. i also ran into my new roomie for the next four weeks, lauren todd from new orleans. i'm actually sitting here watching her sleep, which sounds creepy to the max but its not really cause we're sharing an air matteress, therefore a room, so i'm not really watching her as much as happen to be in the same room with her sleeping. anyways . . . .

so we hung out at this center place, meet more people from more places and i only remeber a handful of them. johnny from california, jeremy from montana, johan from sweden, ummmmmmmm lots more girls from the states, and yeah thats about it for now folks. anyways it was cool getting to know people, how they heard about the program, what they want to do within it, stuff like that. played some hardcore air hockey with jerimiah - which he won but we conlcuded that that i was a damn good goalie considering the amount of shots i saved. sat out on the grass and watched an incoming thunder storm, and then at last my host family came. well kind of. but anyways i think i'll save that for tomorrows and just leave you hanging.

i miss you all! sarah i hope you mom's bbq/gathering thing went awesomely. and i hope steph and madelyn's babyshower is a lot of fun today. wish i could've gone to both! i'm having an amazing time though! so let me know all the news from home! love you guys!
